“Modna Lyalka” 5th International Doll and Teddy Bear Show


On April 12-14, 2013 “Fashion Magazine – Fashion Handmade” Editorial Board organized “Modna Lyalka” 5 th International Doll and Teddy Bear Show, held in the International Exhibition Centre, Kiev.

At present the art of doll making is rapidly developing in Ukraine. Being probably one of the most positive trends of contemporary art. It obtains more and more fans. It has absorbed centuries – old traditions and unites people of different countries and generations. 

Works of more than 150 doll artists and Teddy Bear masters from Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Spain, Japan, Germany, Italy, Georgia, Belarus, Moldova, made in various techniques were presented at the Show. 15 companies and online shops presented their materials for making of dolls and Teddy bears.

A special place in the Exhibition was occupied by show cases with the works of the finalists of the “Fashion Doll” 5th International contest. There were 46 projects of 42 artists from Ukraine and Russia all together. A special place in the contest was given to the nomination “My first doll”. This nomination shows growing of interest in such trend of contemporary art as author`s doll. The International jury was consisting of Tatiana Baeva (Russia), Ekaterina Kalinina (Ukraine), Siu Ling Wang(Germany), Laura Scattolini(Italy).

Famous artists such as Olga Rubtsova(Moscow), Marina Zimina(Kiev) took classes for beginners. For the first time in Ukraine famous doll artist from Japan Otake Kyo took class during the Show. There was held presentation of the company “ELFOS.COM” (Spain), manufacture of unique elf – dolls.

We believe that “Modna Lyalka” Show became a significant event in cultural life of Ukraine and soon will become world-famous, being more popular and prestigious.
