«RokajlFest 2012»
On April 21-22, an annual RokajFest-2012 was held in Prague. The traditional main purpose of the Festival was development of handmade art and beading. The Festival Organizer was OKTAbeads online shop (OKTAbeads.eu), the exclusive distributor of Matsuno seed beads and distributor of Preciosa seed beads.
This year the Festival was sponsored by MGB Matsuno Beads (Japan), Preciosa Ornela a.s. (Czech), an authorized wholesale distributor of Swarovski and a distributor of DECO Clay (Japan). Information support was provided by Fashion Magazine and Koralki magazine.
Together with the Festival, a month of action, supporting APLA-Prague (Association in aid of persons with autism) started. A part of the Festival entrance fee and OKTAbeads shop orders, together with the funds collected from selling children’s handmade items woull be transferred to APLA.
Besides the fair of handmade jewellery and craft materials, different classes and contests were held during the Festival.
This year the contest were: ‘Best jewellery with cabochons’, sponsored by OKTAbeads and ‘Best jewellry with TWIN seed beads’, sponsored by Preciosa Ornela a.s. Twenty four entries were submitted for the first contest and fourteen – for the second. Initially it was planned to choose only one winner in each contest. Then it was decided to expend the list of winners.
The three winners of the ‘Best jewellry with cabochons’ were:
- Lenka Kosentino, ‘Crazy Bride’
- Petra Golubova, ‘Minas Gerais’
- Lutsie Avramova, ‘Autumn’
The winners were awarded dendritic agate cabochons from Kazakhstan. All the participants received discount certificates for OKTAbeads craft materials.
The four winners of the ‘Best jewellery with TWIN seed beads’ were:
- Denisa Kangas, ‘TWIN Fantasy’
- Katerina Vatslavikova, ‘Without Beginning and End’
- Alexandra Lysenko, ‘Nefertiti’
- Petra Vodrazhkova, ‘Night Radiance’
Each winner was awarded five kilograms of TWIN seed beads, including new products. All the other participants received souvenirs.
Both small companies, handmade jewellery masers, and big companies, producing and distributing craft materials took part in the fair.
MGB Matsuno Beads made a special present for teachers of the classes, having paid for their participation. Owing to this fact, there were a lot of different classes held during the Festival: from bazeling rivolis and soutache technique basics to Free-form and Ankars. Classes on the other crafts, such as Felt and modeling from polymer DECO clay took place as well.
Thus, during the two years of Festival holding, it has become a bright attraction both for amateurs and professionals.
